How can we help?

Guides, FAQs and best practices for every SyntrixOne feature.

How visitor tracking works

A first-party cookie + the widget.

When your website widget loads, we set a first-party cookie to identify returning visitors. The widget also reports a heartbeat every 30 seconds so we can show "currently online" status.

No third-party tracking. The cookie lives only on your domain.

Live visitors

Currently active users on your site.

Open /dashboard/visitors. You see every visitor active in the last 90 seconds, the page they are on, their referrer and any signals (page-views, scroll depth, time on page).

Click a visitor to open their full profile.

Visitor profiles

Everything we know about a visitor.

Each visitor has a unique id. Once they share their email (via a form or a chat), the visitor is promoted to a CRM contact and the timeline merges.

Profiles show: first / last seen, total sessions, page-view count, conversation history, referrer source and assigned tags.

Visitor timeline

Every page-view, in order.

The timeline lists every visit ordered newest-first. Click any visit to see the pages they viewed in that session.

Engagement triggers and lead-scoring rules use this data — see the Engagement section.

Privacy notes

What we collect and don't.

We collect anonymised visitor activity by default — no PII unless the visitor provides it. The first-party cookie can be cleared by the visitor at any time.

For GDPR compliance, surface your cookie notice via the customer portal or your existing consent banner. We do not currently set tracking cookies before consent — but it remains your responsibility to comply with local law.
